Figure paintings and taxidermy adorn Chez Spencer's main dining area, which can accommodate forty + guests. With it's moderately priced classic French fare and excellent wine selection, an elegant yet casual dining experience a waits those who enter through the restaurant's large outer gate. Diners are welcomed by a garden of flowers, olive trees and a lovely patio.
Chez Spencer Owner and Executive Chef Laurent Katgely, a native of Chamonix France, began his culinary career at the age of fourteen. A graduate of the Dignes Les Bains Culinary School, Laurent apprenticed at the Relais et Chateau La Bonne Etape, near Aix-en Provence, before going on to cook at several two-and-three-Stars Michelin rated restaurants. He came to the United States in 1992, working in New York , Los Angeles and San Francisco. His cooking has earned glowing reviews in Gourmet, Details, Playboy, Conde Nast Traveler (Hot Tables 2003), 7X7, New York Times, Bon Appetit, , Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Times, etc. Laurent has been on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Food Network-The Great Food Truck Race,TLC- Best Food Ever, Check Please- Bay Area, The Best Thing I Ever Ate and TF1 Le Reportage. He is also honored to be in the book "Best Chefs America" 2013 edition..
